Edge of the Cedars State Park / Museum

Emphasis is placed on ancestral Puebloan life in this southeastern Utah archaeological repository, park, and museum. Listed on both the National and State Registers of Historic Places. Indoor displays include Puebloan pottery, basketry, tools, and jewelry. Outside, petroglyph figures are prominent in the garden.

The ruin of a village occupied from AD 750 - AD 1220 is open to visitors. Of particular note are the Horse Rock Ruin basketry collection, a Macaw feather sash, and a loom dating from the middle of the first millennium; all of which were discovered in San Juan County. Hole-in-the-Rock Home

Alfred and Gladys Christensen worked 12 years removing 50,000 feet of sandstone to hollow out this 5,000 square foot home in the cliff. 14 rooms are arranged around huge sandstone pillars. 65 feet of chimney leads through the rock to the fireplace. Frontier Museum

Frontier life as it was lived on the edge of the Great Sage Plain over 100 years ago is displayed here. Cowboys, Indians, outlaws, farmers, and shopkeepers are represented. 800-574-4386

The Dinosaur Museum

At The Dinosaur Museum, gigantic fossilized logs from before the Age of Dinosaurs set the stage for your walk through time. On view are skeletons, fossilized skin, eggs, footprints, and beautifully realistic sculptures which represent dinosaurs from the Four Corners region and throughout the globe. View a rare duckbill dinosaur mummy and a tyrannosaur from Mongolia. Stroll through the "History Hall of Dinosaur Movies" and see an actual stop-motion model used in the original 1933 film classic, "King Kong." View The Dinosaur Museum Website.

Huck's Museum

Privately owned and operated, this museum houses one of the best private collections of arrowheads, beads, pendants, and pottery from the ancient Puebloan culture. 435-678-2329.

Goulding's Museum

Housed in the original 1920s trading post, the museum examines the history of Monument Valley and its people. A section of the museum focuses on the movies made in Monument Valley. View Goulding's Museum Website.

The Frontier Museum

The Frontier Museum is housed in a century old barn once used as storage for the L. H. Redd Mercantile. The barn was moved from its original site and renovated to house the museum by the Monticello Foundation. The original post and beam construction is visible inside. Frontier life as it was lived on the edge of the Great Sage Plain over 100 years ago is on display. A visit to the museum is a passage through time via the day-to-day items used by our parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents. Exhibits include vintage clothing and household items. Early telephones, relics from ancient native people, and remains from the Home of Truth are on display. Cowboys, Indians, outlaws, farmers, and shopkeepers are represented.435-587-3401
